Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (1990) from the University of Colorado. He started his career with Arthur Andersen LLP’s tax department in 1990, leaving to join Dean Dunn in forming Dunn Henritze LLP (fka Dean Dunn & Assoc., LLC in 1997). Mike’s accomplishments include the following:
- Served as a manager in the tax department of Arthur Andersen’s Denver Office in 1996 until departure, supervising several staff and senior tax professionals, both federal and state tax.
- Has assisted clients in a variety of areas such as transactional and corporate restructuring to reduce federal and multi-state sales/use, income/franchise and intangibles tax liabilities.
- Has been instrumental in the planning, forecasting, budgeting, revenue and expense projections, cash-flow analysis and daily operations of major clients.
- Successfully completed dozens of state voluntary disclosure agreements for clients, minimizing prior year exposure to sales/use tax, income/franchise tax, and has been integral in the filing of refund claims and general compliance management for clients.
- Served as instructor for several continuing education courses both in the federal and state income tax area, for Arthur Andersen LLP, the University of Colorado and Colorado State University.
- Has attended hundreds of hours of conferences and seminars instructed by groups such as the Institute of Property Taxation, the Committee on State Taxation, the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, the Colorado Association of Municipal Tax Auditors, the Arthur Andersen Centre for Professional Education, and others. This education focused over the years on a wide variety of tax-related topics for specific transactions, specific business entities and individuals.
- Mike and his wife Kristi have three children, Dillon age 19, Graceanne age 17, and Kelsey age 15. They enjoy music, skiing, golf, horseback, hiking and time in general outdoors.
